Hatha yoga is an ancient system for creating health and enhancing well- being. The practice of hatha yoga focuses on physical postures and breathing techniques that can build strength and flexibility in the body and calm the mind for meditation. A dedicated yoga practice offers the benefits of mind/body awareness, freedom of movement, and renewed energy for daily living.
It Figures offers two styles of hatha yoga as part of the group exercise schedule. Each style brings a unique focus to the practice, whether gentle and meditative or challenging and invigorating. We encourage you to explore our yoga classes until you find a style, and class level suited to your abilities and level of experience.
It Figures has developed a system of categorizing our Yoga classes so that you are able to choose the most appropriate level for you. Please refer to the list below before choosing a Yoga class. This Yoga level system will help you in understanding what to expect in each Yoga class provided on the Group Exercise schedule.
Level 1 – For beginners or those wanting to explore the foundations of yoga practice. The focus is on correct alignment and breathing in basic yoga postures.
Level 1/2 – Beginning and continuing students receive a deeper introduction to fundamental postures and principles of yoga in this advanced beginning class.
Level 2 – Strength, stamina and flexibility will be required as intermediate postures and sequences are introduced. Previous yoga experience is recommended.
Level 2/3 – Experienced practitioners will explore advanced variations within more vigorous sequences. Please be aware that this is a physically challenging class.
Zumba is a dance fitness method based on salsa and other Latin dance moves, performed to Latin and world music beats, and choreographed to allow people of any fitness or dance experience level to enjoy a fantastic workout.
If you think you’d like an exhilarating class filled with good feelings and party-like fun, Zumba makes an excellent choice of a group fitness method to support your fitness goals. With the classes choreographed to provide intervals of intensity in both pace of music and type of movements, class members’ energy expenditure is maximized for fat-burning benefits. For most people, that can add up to 400 to 600 calories burned per hour depending on how much effort you put into the class.
